Honhar Laptop Scholarship Program: Empowering Punjab’s Students Through Technology
The Punjab government has unveiled the Honhar Laptop Scholarship Program, a groundbreaking initiative to boost education by integrating technology into students’ academic journeys. The program, set to distribute 50,000 laptops and scholarships within 90 days, reflects the government’s commitment to empowering the youth of Punjab.
Key Highlights of the Program
1. Laptop Distribution
The program will provide 50,000 high-performance laptops, including advanced Core i7, 13th-generation models. Distribution will take place in two phases:
First Phase: 5,000 laptops will be distributed within 30 days.
Completion: The remaining laptops will be delivered by February 20.
2. Special Allocations
Minority Students: 2,000 laptops are reserved specifically for students from minority communities.
Ceremonial Recognition: Top-performing matriculation and F.Sc students will receive laptops in a ceremony that includes a Guard of Honour.
3. Scholarship Categories
The program is inclusive, targeting a range of students:
20,000 laptops for university students.
14,000 laptops for college students.
2,000 laptops for medical and dental students.
4,000 laptops for students in industry and agriculture sectors.
Additionally, 32% of laptops are reserved for students from Southern Punjab, ensuring equitable distribution.
4. Support for Female Students
The Chief Minister’s Merit Scholarship Program will waive tuition fees for up to five years for 18,000 female students, promoting gender equality in higher education.
Application Process
Eligible students can apply through their respective educational institutions. Selection criteria will focus on academic performance, with special consideration for minority groups and students from underprivileged areas.
