Pakistan and Bangladesh Launch Fellowship Program to Boost Educational Cooperation
Pakistan and Bangladesh have taken a significant step toward strengthening academic ties by launching a new fellowship program. The initiative is a joint effort by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (Comstech) and the University of Lahore.
The program aims to promote academic collaboration and provide opportunities for Bangladeshi students and researchers to pursue higher education and advanced research in various fields. These include allied health sciences, engineering and technology, pharmacy, management sciences, social sciences, and humanities. In addition, the program will offer technical training for lab staff in science, technology, and engineering disciplines.
Prof. Mohammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of Comstech, highlighted the program’s importance in addressing educational challenges across the Muslim world. “This fellowship program demonstrates our commitment to bridging educational and research gaps. By supporting Bangladeshi scholars and students, we aim to cultivate future innovators and leaders to tackle modern challenges,” he said.
Fellowship Benefits and Eligibility
The fellowship offers full coverage of tuition fees, round-trip airfare, a monthly stipend, and free accommodation. It is open to Bangladeshi nationals aged 22 to 45, living in any country, who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements and a strong dedication to community service.
Applications can be submitted through the official websites of Comstech and the University of Lahore. The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2025.
This initiative underscores the shared vision of Comstech and the University of Lahore to foster innovation and professional development across OIC member states. The program aims to empower the next generation of scholars and strengthen educational ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh by providing these opportunities.
