  1. SP – Superintendent of Police: Heads all the constables and police officers of a district (non-metropolitan or urban).
  2. SI – Sub-Inspector: Oversees police stations and supervises lower-ranked officers.
  3. ASI – Assistant Sub-Inspector: A non-gazetted officer who assists the Sub-Inspector and is above the rank of constable.
  4. DSP – Deputy Superintendent of Police: A senior police officer who assists the Superintendent of Police and manages authorized police stations.
  5. DC – Deputy Commissioner 
    • In some states, DC is the equivalent of the District Magistrate (DM), who is often an IAS officer heading the district administration.
