Question

State Fleming’s Left-hand rule

Solution

Fleming’s left-hand rule is a handy way to remember the interaction between a current-carrying conductor, a magnetic field, and the resulting force. Here’s how it works:

  1. Extend your thumb, index finger, and middle finger of your left hand perpendicular to each other. Imagine these fingers representing the three directions involved.
  2. Point your thumb: This represents the direction of the force acting on the conductor.
  3. Point your index finger: This represents the direction of the magnetic field (B).
  4. Point your middle finger: This represents the direction of the electric current (I) in the conductor.

Essentially, Fleming’s left-hand rule tells you that the force acting on the conductor is perpendicular to both the magnetic field and the direction of the current.
