What is a saturated solution and how can we make an saturated solution?
Solution
A saturated solution is like a crowded room – the solvent (liquid) can’t dissolve any more solute (solid/gas) at that temperature.
Here’s how to make one:
- Add solute to solvent until no more dissolves (undissolved solute appears).
- Evaporate some solvent from an unsaturated solution.
- (For some solutions) Heat an unsaturated solution to dissolve more, then cool (it might become saturated as it cools).
