Located in Mainz, Germany, the IMB International PhD Program (IPP) welcomes international students passionate about research. The program provides an exceptional opportunity to delve into the forefront of modern biology. Research projects address crucial topics related to Gene Regulation, Epigenetics, and Genome Stability.

Our collaborating institutions offer expertise across various fields, including biochemistry, genetics, cell and developmental biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, and applied physics. You’ll have the chance to explore techniques like CRISPR/Cas, NGS, gene network modeling, mass spectrometry, and super-resolution microscopy.

Eligibility

  • Academic Background
    • A Master’s degree (MSc) or equivalent (with a First Class BA Hons or BSc Hons) in a relevant field, or anticipate completion before program start.
    • Details of any other postgraduate degrees, awards, or distinctions (max 250 words).
  • Research Experience
    • Details of any research stays abroad during your studies (if applicable).
    • Past research experience details.
    • A list of your publications (PubMed format, max 300 words) and conference contributions (title, date, location).
  • English Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Research Interest
    • Selection of up to 5 research groups you’re interested in (projects may vary by application call).
    • Motivational statement (max 300 words) describing your interest in the program and chosen research groups, and your scientific goals.

  • Single file (max 4 MB) containing:
    • University transcripts and certificates (as far as completed)
    • English language test certificate (optional, if available)
