Eligibility Criteria
Language and Countries: Fluency in English is required; athletes from any country worldwide are eligible.
Scholarship Eligibility:
– Applicants must be enrolled in or about to start their studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University in any course.
– They must compete in a recognized British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) sport and contribute to the University’s BUCS objectives.
– Athletes should compete at the international level or strive towards the highest level in their sport (e.g., national/international/professional).
– Recommendations from their National Governing Body (NGB) coach and/or the university’s coach in their sport are required.
Scholarship Requirements
– Students are expected to represent Cardiff Met in BUCS competitions and participate in promotional activities for the School of Sports and Health Science.
– Full-time enrollment at Cardiff Metropolitan University and possession of a Student ID Card are necessary for processing catering or general campus allowances.
Award Conditions
– Award payments in subsequent years depend on successful academic progression and sporting progress, determined by the Performance Sport Panel.
– Exceptions may be considered for applicants in four-year programs, part-time studies, or postgraduate programs.
Renewal and Limitations
– Annual reapplication is required, facilitated by the Head of Performance Sport.
– The award is not available for students at franchise colleges.
– Concurrent receipt of the Elite Sport Scholar award and the Postgraduate Scholarship is not permitted.

How to Apply for Elite Sport Scholar Award?
To be considered for the Elite Sport Scholar Award, please complete the following application step
(1) Complete the Elite Sport Scholar Award application form here.
(2) Submitting it to the Head of Performance Sport with evidence of performance standards and coach contact details to allow for a recommendation to be requested.
You will receive an automatic notification by email.
If you do not receive this notification, please contact scholarship@cardiffmet.ac.uk as soon as possible so we can confirm receipt.
You will then receive confirmation that you are eligible, subject to meeting the Terms and Conditions.
Final confirmation of receipt of the award will be confirmed once assessments are undertaken and before starting your course.
