Hashoo Foundation Launches “Pakistan 100 for 100” for Universal Education by 2047
The Hashoo Foundation has joined hands with Sunbeams to launch a major initiative called the “Pakistan 100 for 100 Movement” (PK100). The goal is to ensure that every child in Pakistan has access to education by 2047 when we mark the nation’s 100th anniversary.
This initiative is a significant step forward in tackling the country’s education crisis. With over 30 years of experience, the Hashoo Foundation is leading this effort to make quality education available to all.
The PK100 program will begin in Islamabad, starting with small community-level projects. Over time, it will expand to cover entire districts, creating a model that can be used across the country. The aim is to build a system that ensures every child gets the chance to go to school.
Prominent leaders attended the launch event, including Murtaza Hashwani, Deputy Chairman of the Hashoo Group, Haris Qayyum Khan, CEO of the Hashoo Foundation, and Ainee Nasir Jamy, Founder of Sunbeams. Policymakers, academics, and government officials were also present to show their support.
Haris Qayyum Khan said the movement reflects the Hashoo Foundation’s mission to use education as a tool for social and economic development. “This initiative is a big step forward in creating an inclusive and fair education system,” he said.
Murtaza Hashwani highlighted the foundation’s long-standing efforts in empowering young people through education. “Investing in education is investing in the future of our youth, who will lead the nation tomorrow,” he said.
Ainee Nasir Jamy pointed out the urgency of the problem. She noted that more than 25 million children in Pakistan, aged 5 to 16, are out of school. This puts Pakistan second in the world for the highest number of children not attending school. She stressed the need for serious reforms and programs like PK100 to address this challenge.
This new movement gives hope to millions of children and their families. It is a step toward a future where education is a right for all, not a privilege for a few.
