HEC Introduces Updated Curricula for Key Disciplines
HEC Introduces Updated Curricula for Key Disciplines. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced revised curricula for Political Science, Islamic Studies, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Architecture. The National Curriculum Review Committees (NCRCs) developed the updated programs to improve academic standards and meet industry demands.
The NCRCs included leading professors, scholars, accreditation council representatives, and industry experts. Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar led the Political Science committee, Prof. Dr. Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi chaired the Islamic Studies committee, Prof. Dr. Attaur Rahman headed the Remote Sensing & GIS committee, and Mohammad Arif Changazi directed the Architecture committee. HEC Deputy Director Hidayatullah Kasi supported the process as Secretary.
The revised curricula focus on degree program structures, eligibility criteria, learning outcomes, and elective options. The updates aim to align education with international standards, local needs, and market trends. Each curriculum guides levels 5, 6, and 7 of the National Qualifications Framework.
The HEC has instructed universities to adopt the revised curricula immediately. The move ensures uniformity and quality in education across Pakistan. The updated curricula are now accessible on the HEC website.
