The government delayed the rollout due to ongoing textbook printing for the upcoming academic year. Minister Faisal Tarakai announced the education card will first launch in eight districts: Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Swat, and Abbottabad.

Tarakai highlighted challenges in the current system. He noted billions are spent annually on education, including textbook printing. The education card will ensure transparent and direct resource allocation to students.

The program will begin in the 2027 academic year. It will not impose additional financial burdens on the government. The initiative aims to streamline resource distribution and improve efficiency.
