Punjab Announces Shocking Exam Changes & New Academic Schedule!
The Punjab Education Department has officially announced the academic schedule for the upcoming year, with classes for the 2025-26 session set to commence on April 1. The department has also introduced key changes to the examination format, particularly for matriculation students.
Annual Exams and Result Declaration
The annual examinations for the current academic session (2024-25) will be conducted from March 10 to March 20 across more than 42,000 government schools in Punjab. Over 6.5 million students are expected to participate in these exams. The results will be released in the last week of March.
Major Revisions in Matriculation Exams
In a significant change, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has revised the marking scheme for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies. The total marks for both subjects have been increased from 50 to 100 each. Under the new policy, Islamic Studies will be assessed in ninth grade, while Pakistan Studies will be examined in tenth grade.
To accommodate these modifications, the updated syllabus has already been incorporated into new textbooks, and the printing process is currently underway.
Impact on Academic Standards
Education officials have expressed confidence that these reforms will strengthen studentsโ grasp of these subjects, enhancing their overall academic performance. The adjustments aim to provide a more in-depth understanding of Islamic and Pakistani history, fostering a well-rounded educational experience.
These developments mark a crucial step in refining Punjabโs education system, aligning it with contemporary academic standards and student needs. With the new academic year approaching, students and teachers alike will have ample time to adapt to these changes.
