Punjab Govt Annouces Laptop Distribution Criteria for Students

The Punjab government has announced the eligibility criteria for its highly anticipated laptop distribution scheme, aiming to enhance digital learning opportunities for students across the province. The decision was finalized in a high-level review meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat.

Eligibility Criteria and Distribution Plan for Laptop Distribution

Under the new scheme, laptops will be distributed to students in their first and second semesters. To qualify, BS students must have secured at least 65% marks in their intermediate exams, while medical students need a minimum of 80%.

Officials were instructed to accelerate the process, ensuring the timely launch of the online application portal, merit list announcement, and distribution timeline. The Higher Education Department (HED) is expected to complete these tasks promptly to facilitate students.

Governmentโ€™s Commitment to Education

The meeting was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Ajmal Chandio and HED Secretary Dr. Farrukh Naveed. The officials emphasized that the initiative is part of the governmentโ€™s broader strategy to bridge the digital divide and equip students with essential resources for modern education.

Additionally, the minister stressed the swift completion of the second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, further reinforcing the governmentโ€™s commitment to supporting talented students.

The Punjab government continues to push forward with initiatives that empower students and promote higher education accessibility. The launch of the web portal for applications is expected soon, allowing eligible students to apply without delays.
