Punjab Govt announced two holidays in a week

On Saturday, Punjab government announced a new policy for schools. According to it, now schools will have two days off every week. The new schedule includes Saturday and Sunday holiday and will be effective from August 15, 2024. Timings of schools also been changed.

Department of School Education Punjab made this decision after observing the tough work schedule in schools. The purpose of this change is to reduce the work load of teachers and to create a more stable work routine.

 Following the notice, schools with one shift will have classes from Monday to Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

Complete schedule is as follows:

Single Shift Schools.

• Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM 
• Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Double Shift/Afternoon Schools.

• Monday to Thursday.
  • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM
• Friday.
  • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
  •   Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

New Work Hours for Teachers

Single Shift Schools.

• Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Double Shift/Afternoon Schools.

• Monday to Thursday.
  • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  •  Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM

• Friday 
  • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  •   Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM

       Alternate Saturdays: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
