Sindh Government Prohibits Private Schools from Charging Extra Fees to Matric Students
In a significant move, the Sindh government has issued strict instructions to private schools, forbidding them from charging advance fees for June and July from matriculation students appearing in exams this year. This directive aims to address growing concerns from parents regarding additional financial burdens.
Rafia Javed, the Additional Director of Private Schools Karachi, highlighted the issue during an appearance on ARY News’ morning show Bakhabr Sawera. She disclosed that complaints were received about private schools demanding these fees in advance, prompting the government to take decisive action.
Under the new policy, matric students scheduled to take their exams in March 2025 will only need to pay school fees until April 2025. Schools found violating this directive will face strict penalties, ensuring compliance.
For students from primary to grade 9, the situation remains unchanged. These students are still required to pay their June and July fees. The fee vouchers for these months will be issued in April and May 2025, with payments expected to be settled by the end of July.
This decision reflects the government’s commitment to reducing unnecessary financial stress on families while maintaining a fair fee structure for students across different grades.
