Types of Fraction Mean in Math

The primary parts of a fraction are the numerator and the denominator. Based on these, distinct types of fractions can be explained.

What is a unit fraction?

In math, a unit fraction can be defined fraction with a nominator being one (1).

For example:

1/3,1/5,1/8

The product of two unit fractions is the result of a unit fraction.

For example: Find the product of two unit fraction

Solution:

 Let two unit fractions 1/4 and 1/3

(1/4)X(1/3)=1/12

1/12 is called a unit fraction

What is a Proper fraction?

A fraction in which the numerator (the top number) is less than the denominator the bottom number).

For example:

3/7,4/5,2/9

What is an Improper fraction?

A fraction in which the nominator is greater or equal to the denominator.

For example:

3/2,5/2

4/4 ,7/7

Mixed fraction

A mixed fraction consists of a whole number along with a proper fraction

For example

71/4

What is a lick fraction?

The fraction in which the same denominator

For example:

2/5,3/5

What is an unlick fraction?

 a fraction in which the different denominator

For example:

3/7 and 5/4

What are Equivalent fractions?

Two or more fractions are defined to be equivalent fractions they are equal to the same fraction when simplified.

 For example,

Both 6/12 and 4/8 are equal to 1/2,

When simplified, which means they are equivalent in nature.

Mixed fraction into an improper fraction

Mixed fractions can be converted to improper fractions. The denominator multiplies the whole number by adding it to the numerator. It becomes the new numerator and the denominator remains unchanged.

For example:

5(2/3)=5×3+2/3=15+2/3=17/3
