There are two most common symbols used in mathematics, which are logarithm and exponential. In this article, I am going to tell you what the symbol of logarithm and exponential mean.

What is a symbol of logarithm ?

The symbol of the logarithm is represented by the letter “log” and its purpose is to show the increase in the value of the base.

It is the basis of this symbol is that when you change the base, the result will be the same. An example of this is when you want to increase the value of the logarithm.

Examples:

Log2 (3) =1

Log2 (4) =2

Log2 (6) =3

If you want to change the base 2, then the result will be the same.

For example:

Log2 (2^3)=1

Here, the power is taken as a base and not the value of the logarithm.

What is a symbol of exponential?

When you see the symbol of the exponential, it is represented as “exp” and its purpose is to show the value of the base raised to the power.

The reason for this is that when you raise the value of the base to the power of the result will remain the same.

Example:

e=2.71828…

Example:

e^2=9.86967….

In this example, it is the power that is taken as a base, not the value of the logarithm.
