Punjab to Launch Scholarships and Interest-Free Loans for Students
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced new plans to support students. She promised scholarships and interest-free loans to help students with their education.
While speaking to students at Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan, she assured them that financial issues would not block their academic goals. She said the government will expand the “Honhaar Scholarship Program” and include international scholarships in the future.
Scholarships for Students
The Chief Minister said 30,000 students will receive scholarships. She proudly shared that 60% of the scholarship recipients are women. She also set a condition: students must avoid anti-state activities to qualify for the scholarships.
Laptops for Students
Maryam Nawaz announced plans to give laptops to students soon. She said this will help students access modern learning tools.
Loans for Business Startups
The government will also offer interest-free loans to deserving students. These loans, worth over Rs. 100 million, will help students start businesses after their studies.
Maryam Nawaz urged students to use electric vehicles (e-vehicles) for a cleaner Punjab. She shared that a Chinese company is planning to set up an electric bike manufacturing plant in the province.
The Chief Minister expressed regret that public funds had not been used for people’s welfare in the past. She promised that her government would prioritize students and their future.
These initiatives aim to support students, reduce financial barriers, and promote a sustainable environment.
