Can you use iron for sublimation?
Practically, it is possible to use iron for sublimation, but it is not an ideal method. Sublimation requires a precise balance of temperature, pressure, and time. Irons are not designed for this purpose, and they do not provide the necessary level of control over these factors. Therefore we cannot include ironing as examples of sublimation.
Limitations of using an iron for sublimation:
1. Temperature Control
Irons are designed to reach a specific temperature, but they cannot maintain that temperature with the same precision as other sublimation equipment. This makes it difficult to achieve the optimal temperature required for sublimation.
2. Pressure Control
Irons also do not provide the same level of pressure control as other sublimation equipment. This can result in uneven pressure distribution and incomplete sublimation.
3. Size and shape
The size and shape of iron are not suitable for the sublimation of larger items. This limits the range of products that can be sublimated using an iron.
4. Risk of damage
Using iron for sublimation can damage the iron and the product being sublimated. The heat and pressure required for sublimation can cause damage to the iron, and the iron’s hot surface can cause damage to the product being sublimated.
