A cube number is an answer when a number has been multiplied by three times itself. The cube for the number (x) is denoted as x3 and is read as “x-cubed” (or) “x raised to 3″ x to the power of 3”. For example, let the number 4. We know that 4 × 4 × 4 = 64. Hence, 64 is also said the cube of 4. While in other words, determining the cube root of a number involves the reverse process of the cube of a number and is represented by ∛.

For example, 5 is said to be the cube root of the number 125 and is written as ∛125 = 5. in this article learn about the cubes and cube roots of a number.

What is a Cube Number?

A cube number is an answer when a number has been multiplied by three times itself, the resultant product of the number is known as the cube of the original number. In other words, a number raised to exponent 3 is called the cube of a number. For example, the cube of 2 is 8.

What is Cube Root?

In mathematics, the definition of cube root is written as Cube root is the number that needs to be multiplied three times to obtain the original number. Cube root formula, where y is the cube root of x. it can be written ∛x = y. The radical sign ∛ is used as a cube root. Another way to represent cube roots is to write 1/3 as the exponent of a number.

Cube root is an inverse process of the cube of a number.

Cube Roots Formula

The cube root formula helps in determining the cube root of any given number that is expressed in a radical form using the symbol ∛. It can be determined by first finding out the prime factorization of the given number and then later applying the cube root formula. let, x is any number such that, x = y × y × y.

The formula to find the cube root is given number:

Cube root of x = ∛x = ∛(y × y × y) = y

Where y is the cube root of any number x. This also said that the number x would be a perfect cube if y has an integer value.

Application Cube Roots Formula

A few major applications of the cube root formula, are given below

  • calculate the dimensions of a cube if the volume is given
  • solve the cubic equations
  • Provide a more precise dimension of an apartment, etc.

Perfect Cube

A perfect cube is an integer that can be expressed as the multiplying of three same or equal integers.

 For example:

8 is a perfect cube because 23 = 2 × 2 × 2= 8. However, 121 is not a perfect cube because there is no number, which when multiplied three times gives the answer 121.
