Have you ever asked yourself, “What does the symbol mean in math?” If you are a math student then the answer to this question is probably “No”.

So, today I am going to tell you about mathematical symbols and what does it mean. If you have studied a bit of math then you must be aware of various math symbols that you will see while doing math.

Here are some of the most commonly used math symbols in Math:

∀∃≡ ∴ ⊃ ⊂ ⊄ ≈ ≍ ⋅ ⋐ ⋑ ⋔ ⋖ ⋘ ⋙ ⋚ ⋛

Let’s discuss each of these symbols in detail:

1)

It means universal quantifier and you will get this symbol in math when you will study universal quantifiers. This symbol represents universal quantifiers and here you can get various types of quantifiers.

2)

This is another symbol that is very useful for students, it represents an existential quantifier and you will see this symbol in math when you study existential quantifiers.

3)

This symbol is one of the most important symbols in math, it represents the equality sign. You will see this symbol in math when you study conditional statements and logical equations.

4)

It is called an approximation sign and it is used to show that two expressions are similar or close to each other. You will see this symbol in math when you study ratios and proportions.

5)

This is the symbol of approximate equality, it is used to show that two expressions are approximately equal to each other. You will find this symbol in math when you study real numbers and linear equations.

6) ∴

This symbol is used to show that the statement is true because of the conditions mentioned in the statement. You will see this symbol in math when you study Boolean logic and decision-making.

7)

This is an important symbol and it is used to show that the statement is true if the first condition is true. You will find this symbol in math when you study propositional calculus.

8) ∴

This symbol is used to show that the statement is true only if the first condition is true. You will find this symbol in math when you study conditional statements.

9)

This symbol is called a proper subset and it is used to show that a set is a subset of a set. You will find this symbol in math when you study sets and subsets.

10)

This is the symbol for existential quantifier and it is used to show that a statement is true if there exists a single element in a collection. You will find this symbol in math when you study sets and subsets.

11)

This symbol is used to show that the statement is true if the first condition is true and the second condition is false. You will find this symbol in math
